Art Briles will not be joining the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats as an assistant offensive coach after all. After the Tiger-Cats announced early Monday morning that Briles would be coming on to coach the struggling team, less than ten hours later, the deal is off.

The CFL and Tiger Cats announced jointly this evening after discussions, that Briles would not be joining the team, wishing him all the best.

“Art Briles will no longer be joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a coach. We came to this decision this evening following a lengthy discussion between the league and the Hamilton organization,” The Tiger Cats and CFL said. “We wish Mr. Briles all the best in his future endeavours.”

Baylor’s former Head Football coach had not worked in any football capacity since May 2016 following his termination from the program, and Baylor’s 2016 sexual scandal.

Briles was slated to join former Hawaii and SMU head coach June Jones on Hamilton’s staff. The Tiger-Cats are 0-8 this season.
