No. 1 Baylor equestrian wrapped up its fall season with a 14-6 win over Delaware State in Dover, Del., on Nov. 21 to remain undefeated going into 2015.

The top-ranked Bears (8-0) took a 7-3 win in both western and hunt seat categories to win their first road meet of the season.

Baylor won 4-1 in equitation over fences, and senior hunter seat rider Sam Schaefer led the way with a score of 81 in the event. Sophomore hunter seat rider Savannah Jenkins garnered Most Outstanding Player honors in the event after beating Delaware State’s Caroline Schock with a score of 76.

The Bears took a slim 3-2 win in equitation on the flat and used from points from Schaefer, junior hunter seat rider Paige Parker and sophomore hunter seat rider Alicia Gasser to pull ahead. Schaefer was given the MOP award after scoring 75 points over Delaware State’s Heather Hotz.

A 3-2 win in horsemanship kept Baylor in front in their first road meet. Sophomore western rider Lacy Watson, junior western rider Mary Brown and senior western rider Gillian Chant scored in the event, but Delaware State rider Alexis Gratowski used a 72-point score to secure the MOP award.

A 4-1 win in reining also secured the win for Baylor. Watson led the way with 69.5 points to earn MOP honors in the event for the Bears. Brown, Chant and junior western rider Michelina Carbone beat out their respective opponents to give the event win to Baylor.

The top-ranked Bears will return to action on Jan. 29 as they host No. 10 New Mexico State at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. The meet is set for 1 p.m. start time in Waco.
