It’s raining, it’s pouring, and the Bears are rolling.

No. 7 Baylor football leads 28-14 at halftime at McLane Stadium behind a big performance from senior quarterback Bryce Petty and the receivers.

Senior quarterback Bryce Petty was 15-of-22 for 239 yards in the first half for two touchdown passes and an interception. Sophomore Corey Coleman leads the wide receiver core with 75 yards and a score. The Bears mauled the Cowboys and had 362 offensive yards in the first 30 minutes in Waco.

The Bears opened the game with a 36 second scoring drive as Petty nailed a long 65-yard touchdown pass to junior receiver Jay Lee to give Baylor an early 7-0 lead in the opening quarter. After OSU’s Mason Rudolph first pass went for six yards, the Bears forced a quick three-and-out to set up their second scoring drive.

Petty connected to senior receiver Antwan Goodley for 26 yards for an easy first down. Two plays later, sophomore receiver Corey Coleman caught a 54-yard touchdown pass to put the Bears up 14-0 over Oklahoma State. The Bears’ “Gang Green” defense pressured the Cowboys and forced another punt only three plays into Oklahoma State’s second offensive drive.

Petty was picked off by OSU’s Ramon Richards to set up a short field for the Cowboys. Before the interception, Petty had thrown 120 straight passes. Oklahoma State used six plays and used a 34-yard pass to set themselves up for first-and-goal opportunity. OSU’s Desmond Roland ran for a one-yard touchdown to put the Cowboys on the board, and Baylor still led 14-7.

The Bears then went on their longest scoring drive of the season and used 19 plays and over seven minutes to march down the field. A number of false starts pushed Baylor back, but Chafin punched in a wide open run to extend the lead 21-7.

Chafin scored again on the next offensive drive for Baylor as he ran in for an 7-yard touchdown, but Oklahoma State would fight back right before the half as it marched its way into Baylor territory. Rudolph had an 8-yard touchdown pass to David Glidden with one second left on the clock to shorten the gap to two scores.

Oklahoma State will receive the ball to start the second half.
