Baylor soccer fell 2-1 to Illinois State in overtime, marking the Bears’ first loss in overtime this season and extending the Bears’ losing streak to two games. It is the first time the Bears lost two matches in a row in the 2014 regular season.

Baylor was hopeful to bounce back after its strong showing against No. 19 Notre Dame ended as a 1-0 loss Friday night, but failed to get a win out of its two matches this weekend.

The Bears started on the right foot when sophomore midfielder Ashley York put them ahead with 25-yard strike from distance in the first half. It is York’s second time scoring this season, and eighth career goal for Baylor.

Illinois State equalized in the same half the Bears got the go-ahead goal, making it 1-1 heading into the halftime break. The game remained deadlocked in regulation, forcing overtime for the Bears’ second time this season.

The Cardinals stunned the Bears just four minutes into the first overtime period, scoring the golden goal to deal the Bears their third loss this season.

The Bears return to Texas to finish their three-game road trip at UT-San Antonio at 7 p.m. Friday night.
