President Ken Starr appointed Dr. David Garland, dean of Truett Seminary, to the position of interim provost today.

According to a press release, Baylor Board of Regents, who met Friday, expressed appreciation for the administration of provost and executive vice president. Davis will resign her position late June, to begin as president of Furman University in July

“Dean Garland is esteemed as both a distinguished scholar and an exceptional administrator, who embodies what it means to be a servant leader,” Starr said in the press release. “Dr. Garland’s appointment as interim provost will allow the University to continue to move forward in the implementation of Pro Futuris, our new vision, while we begin planning for a national search to fill the position of the University’s chief academic officer.”

Garland served as interim president of the university August 2008 to May 2010.
