Baylor University Establishes Eddie Briles Memorial Scholarship

WACO, Texas – Baylor University, in conjunction with friends of the Briles family and football program, have established the Eddie Briles Memorial Scholarship in honor of the older brother of Bears’ football coach Art Briles, who died suddenly this past Wednesday from injuries sustained from a fall.

“There has been a tremendous outpouring of love and sympathy for Coach Briles and his family from Baylor Nation the last few days, which has been greatly appreciated by the family, and it is our sincere desire that this scholarship fund will honor Eddie’s memory and his family for many years to come,” said Baylor Director of Athletics Ian McCaw.

Gifts may also be mailed to One Bear Place #97050, Waco, TX 76798, and indicate in the memo that it is for the Eddie Briles Memorial Scholarship.

A fixture on the Baylor sideline for many of the Bears’ home games since his brother took over as head coach in 2008, Eddie Briles’ funeral was held on Sunday at First Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas, was buried in his hometown of Rule, Texas.
