The Baylor volleyball team came up empty-handed Wednesday night in Austin, getting swept by the No. 9 Texas Longhorns, (23-25, 19-25, 16-25).

Baylor volleyball stunned the No. 25 Oklahoma Sooners, bringing home a 3-1 victory (26-28, 27-25, 25-22, 25-22.)

Yet again, a Baylor team was unable to defeat Texas A&M.

The Baylor volleyball team’s trend of five set matches carried over into the Bears’ non-conference victory over Texas State (22-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 15-8).

Despite the upsetting loss to Texas Tech right after an off weekend, the team bounced back with a five-set victory (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 14-25, 15-13) Saturday over Kansas State.

What happens in Vegas won’t be staying in Vegas but coming back to Waco for the rest of the 2011 season. Over the weekend, Baylor volleyball (10-3) won the UNLV Classic while three Bears brought home individual awards.

The Baylor Lady Bears dared to be different as they finished the Fairfield Inn North Baylor Classic undefeated as they battled Northern Colorado to a 3-2 finish (25-20, 22-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-9.)

The word different can sometimes hold a negative connotation, but for the Baylor volleyball team, it holds more of an inspiring challenge.

It’s early in the 2011 Baylor volleyball season, but the Lady Bears already have an idea of what’s working and what isn’t.

With Nebraska leaving the Big 12 for the Big 10, there is no set No. 1 for women’s volleyball.
