This past month, the Supreme Council of Sigma Alpha Epsilon eliminated New Member Education, or pledging, from the experience of the national fraternity after half a century of the practice.
Uproar Records’ singer-songwriter artist Trannie Stevens, a McGregor junior, has a lot of musical experience. She’s performed with big names like Toby Keith and Jack Ingram. She has been a headlining performer, recorded in Nashville and has big hopes for her musical future. However, performing with Sigma Alpha Epsilon during this year’s All-University Sing is a first for Stevens and an experience she calls incomparable.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Baylor Activities Council are teaming up to present the second annual Salsa Fest from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, which will feature a salsa-tasting contest, free food and live entertainment from a local cover band.
I looked for things like choreography, song choice, vocal talent, overall execution and story development. I gave extra considerations to acts that were particularly entertaining, or creative, and how well each act developed the story within their performance. Please keep in mind that this is all just one man’s opinion.

Hosted by Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the flavorful event pits teams of four against one another as they dice, spice and blend their way into the judges’ hearts.

Sing 2011 was filled with awesome sets, great themes and much improvement. We’ve made some observations on each of the acts. They aren’t meant to be rude — they’re meant to highlight the good and point out the areas that need improvement. Thanks to all the performers for their hard work. Our top three picks are Kappa Omega Tau, Alpha Tau Omega and Pi Beta Phi.
