As the pumpkins make their way onto porches and candies of every color, shape and size find their way into bowls, I begin to wonder what faces and masks might be haunting houses this Halloween. After some pondering, here are my 2026 Halloween costume predictions.

Living off campus doesn’t mean living without community. Baylor’s commuter students are finding ways to make staying on campus longer worth the hassle of a late-night drive home.
From finding the right roommates to looking for a neighborhood that feels just like home, some students who signed their first lease walk away happy, prepared and satisfied that they’re taking their first step to an independent life.
In 2014 10 years ago the average rent in Waco was $600-$750 and the cost of groceries was $40-$70 on average for one person a week, which means students living off campus would spend around $1,050 on groceries and rent a month. These numbers have only risen since then.
Even though I’m an off-campus student, I still need to eat. I buy a meal plan so I don’t have to worry about packing a lunch, there’s no money coming out of my pocket and I can maintain ties to campus life.
