“It was a safe space to come and to support people being whoever they are,” Hardie said. “They don’t have to worry about people judging them, saying rude things or not recognizing them for their true selves.”

Just shy of its 20th anniversary, Artier Resale continues to be a gem among local businesses. Harold Alexander, a Waco resident of 50 years, is still driving the message of affordability, inclusivity and creativity.
What started as a small community picnic in 2017 has since grown to include over 100 vendors and 500 attendees. The event will be a day of listening to various musical talents, enjoying food truck grub, forming friendships and bonding over shared goals, dreams and experiences.
Waco’s drag community began to pick up in 2021 when many notable drag queens from surrounding areas in Texas came to Waco to perform.
I think pretty much anything and everything there is to be said about the topic of marriage and the LGBT community has been said. My opinion probably carries much less credibility than many others’ opinions do. I’ll quote Forrest Gump: “I don’t know much about anything.”
