Cars lined the streets on Thursday as students arrived at the newly renovated Kokernot Hall for Move2BU. The all-women first-year community reopened this fall after a yearlong renovation and welcomed roughly 160 students.
In July, residents began moving into the newly renovated, nearly 80-year-old Kokernot Hall, which houses about 160 freshman women per year. From new bathrooms and common spaces to sidewalks and landscaping, the entire lot on the southwest corner of campus has been refreshed.
With Memorial and Alexander Halls undergoing construction this year and Allen and Dawson Halls being slated for next, a renovation of Kokernot is still in the distance. After living in Kokernot my freshman year, I can safely say the residence hall needs major updates.
Baylor faculty and administrators announced next year’s Engaged Learning Group topics Friday, hoping they can build upon popular established programs to more fully integrate classroom learning and on-campus residential life.
While safety may be a concern for students on campus late at night, Campus Living & Learning provides a free shuttle service from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for all on-campus residents. The shuttle is a golf cart driven by one of six safety and security education officers.
The residence halls are competing in an energy conservation tournament that began on March 21 and ends May 1.
