While there are many excuses as to why individuals may not bother to look at international news such as being too busy, not finding it relevant or that is harder to find, the bottom line is that this is a trend that needs to change. It’s OK for not every news story to include the U.S. What’s more important is looking at news through a variety of perspectives — even if it means looking at perspectives outside of one’s own country.

Our world is interconnected, and navigating it successfully requires a multifaceted approach. However, we attend school in a system that tells us education is about completing individual classes instead of trying to see how they all connect with each other.
When talking about artificial “intelligence,” most people assume that the model is right and that it can be trusted. However, AI models are learning models, which means they are basically students. They consume information and spit it out when asked. This does not mean the information spit out is always right.
Newspapers are dying, but inquiring minds don’t need to suffer. There’s hope for the gentrifying Fourth Estate, if fewer folks are concerned about turning a buck.
The dialogue about information in an Internet age, globalization and that general connectedness many people of the 21st century have in common is fascinating. It is overwhelming. It is ambitious for a school paper’s editorial column, but hear me out on this caveat.
