While nobody at the Ferrell Center was surprised on Monday, the Lady Bears’ basketball team still joined those in attendance in a burst of celebration upon seeing Baylor’s No. 1 seed for this year’s NCAA tournament announced on ESPN.

The Lady Bears had no problem beating Kansas for the second time this season, physically dominating the Jayhawks in an 86-51 rout. Destiny Williams scored 21 points to lead Mulkey’s team, who advanced to the Big 12 tournament semifinals with the win.

The Lady Bears, Big 12 conference champions, are headed to Boulder, Colo., to take on the Buffaloes in their last conference game at 3 p.m. Saturday, before heading to the Big 12 Tournament.

Even after an unforeseen loss to unranked Texas Tech last Saturday, the Lady Bears still have their hands outstretched for the Big 12 title. The men, however, still need to find that extra something to secure a bid for the big dance.

After staying in Waco long enough to welcome and quickly usher out No. 11/13 Oklahoma 92-70, the No. 1 Lady Bears now hit the road again to take on the Sooners’ in-state rival, Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. Sunday.

If there was any question why the Baylor Lady Bears have held the No. 1 spot for five weeks, they were all answered Wednesday night in Waco as the Lady Bears continued their winning streak of now 17 games, dominating the Oklahoma Sooners 92-70.

After a 76-37 win over Kansas in which “dominance” just rolled off the tongue, the No. 1 Lady Bears look to carry over pretty much everything when they return home to face Texas Tech at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
