Gold medal. Gold star. Gold… water?

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship workshops are being held from 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 25 and Oct. 16 in the C206 Baylor Sciences Building.

Students interested in applying for the Goldwater scholarship should attend, but attendance is not mandatory.

In the 10 years since the university adopted an ambitious new vision outlined in the “Baylor 2012” initiative, the university’s new capital investments in research and residential facilities have coincided with consistent annual increases in the cost of a Baylor education.

Students walking into the Baylor Sciences Building earlier this week were greeted by two flat screen Sony televisions complete with first-person shooter “Call of Duty: Black Ops.”

Baylor Parking Services records show fewer students opted to purchase this year’s new discounted parking decals for the East Campus Parking Garage and the Ferrell Center parking lots than parking services employees had hoped.

The Baylor Agape Connection, a student organization beginning its first full semester this fall, has tapped into a previously underrepresented area of interest on campus— building friendships with senior citizens.

Fort Faculty, the Bill Daniel Student Center, Fountain Mall, Baylor Sciences Building, Moody Memorial Library, and several other campus locations are under construction to increase green space, update furniture and finishes, and make space for expanded and new dining options.

As Baylor begins to look forward to a time after Baylor 2012, it is beginning to further plan the future direction of the university. Student government will help produce the goals of this new strategic plan by collecting student opinions and passing on the reports to the strategic themes committee, which analyzes the responses to determine major themes.
