The Sexual Assault Work Team and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. held a presentation in Kayser Auditorium Wednesday night to warn students about abuse and sexual assault. Natashia Doolittle, a representative from the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children, spoke about the necessity of open discussion, citing the statistic that one in four women and one in 33 men will be sexually assaulted during their college years.

Fliers circulated around the Bill Daniel Student Center, Clifton Robinson Tower and other locations on campus Wednesday afternoon, soliciting students, faculty and staff to visit a website in order to win an iPad2. The fliers, along with CDs also dispersed through these areas, were part of a test administered by an external security company, according to a university spokeswoman.

The risk management department stands ready to protect students by educating them about campus safety this Thursday in an all-day event that will include a number of presentations. The risk management department is hosting “OsoSafe Campus Safety Awareness Day” to increase students’ knowledge of safety in a variety of different areas.

An armed robber struck a Dairy Queen employee with a pistol while the employee was taking out the restaurant’s trash Wednesday night and then proceeded to rob the restaurant, according to the Waco Police Department.

One of two suspects in robberies of two local cash lending stores was arrested on Baylor campus at 3:43 a.m. Tuesday, hours after an on-campus manhunt.

Early Monday morning, two armed men robbed local Cash Stores and later that night the two suspects ran from police through Baylor’s campus.
