When junior Luc Koenig was a little boy in South Africa, his father, Rob Koenig, gave him a choice. Luc could do anything he wanted, or he could follow in his father’s footsteps as a professional tennis player. His father never forced tennis on him but made sure he knew that the journey to becoming a professional tennis player would be hard. Luc understood this and has taken that challenge and ran with it ever since.
When graduate guard Aliyah Matharu joined Baylor women’s basketball as a mid-year transfer in the fall, she not only accomplished a long-time goal of joining the Bears but also integrated within her team and the community leaving her with a feeling of unity.
Aaronette Vonleh walked into Addition Financial Arena for the final game of a three-game road trip looking for consistency on offense so that Baylor women’s basketball could bounce back from a shaky week. Florida Atlantic announced on Wednesday that it hired Baylor assistant coach John Jakus as its next head coach. Jakus has been on Bears head coach Scott Drew’s staff for the last seven years.
Following a national championship in 2020-21, three straight Baylor men’s basketball seasons have concluded with an underwhelming second-round exit. Whether it be injury-riddled seasons or unthinkably slow starts, each season has found a different way to leave a lasting mark. However, the 2023-24 season will mostly be looked back on fondly due to those close bonds on the team.

“It’s always good to get in the win column,” Baylor head coach Nicki Collen said. “I think sometimes you just need the mojo back.”
The Foster Pavilion has officially opened, and the energy from fans in the new arena has been electric. The Baylor Bear Pit, which consists of cheering students, has been at the forefront of it all for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs.

No. 20 Baylor softball’s head coach Glenn Moore and women’s tennis’ head coach Joey Scrivano both hit win milestones of 1,000 and 500, respectively, in the same week.
Baylor men’s tennis came out firing on all cylinders and swept Southern Methodist University, 4-0, Thursday night in the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas.
The Bears defeated the No. 41 Pioneers, 5-2, Tuesday night in the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Golf
Both golf squads wrapped up their tournaments in 11th place this week, with the women’s team breaking their undefeated streak in North Carolina.
