Allowing 21 unanswered points in the first 12 minutes of the game, Baylor football dug itself into a hole too big to overcome, falling to No. 22 BYU 34-28 on Saturday afternoon at McLane Stadium.
It’s same old, same old for the Bears, whose slow starts continue to make opponents look like world-beaters.
This year’s event looked a little different than last year’s Howdy at the Hurd, which featured country star Bailey Zimmerman, axe-throwing and a ferris wheel. Though, the same good cause was still at the heart of it all, according to Pi Beta Phi Howdy chair Madilyn Eckenrode.
Baylor cross-country competed at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. on Friday, with the women finishing 27th out of 38 teams and the men finishing 33rd of 36.

“Since July 1st, Baylor’s campus has had nine positives out of 48 tests,” Stern said. “And in the last month alone, we have had seven positives out of 29 tests, which is almost a 25% positivity rate.”

John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.
