Frisco junior Abhi Rajkumar, a University Scholar majoring in a pre-med track with a focus on human biology research, was awarded the Hilde Spielvogel Award at the Human Biology Association Conference. The annual award is given to one undergraduate researcher based on the quality of research, analysis and presentation, as evaluated by the association’s publications committee.
Hundreds of hours. Thousands of minutes invested into one flawless routine that brought the Songleaders to victory at nationals in Orlando, Fla. This year, the Baylor dance team was in the D1 large category, which is based on university size.
Wonders of Waco, a cohort of 11 small businesses, debuted Tuesday afternoon during Dr Pepper Hour, and behind it is a push to solve a disconnect between the Waco community and Baylor students.

The Waco Police Department said it has seen a steady rise in gun violence for the past five years. In late January, the department issued a press release and posted gun violence statistics to its Facebook page. According to the statistics, the number of gun-related crimes and calls for discharge of a firearm has steadily risen each year since 2017, with 264 gun-related crimes and over 1,600 calls for discharge of a firearm reported last year.
Texas governor candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke held a rally for his candidacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Brazos Park East.
McLennan County primary election early voting will begin on Feb. 14, with over 35 separate elections forming the Democratic and Republican ballots. Voters will choose one of the parties’ ballots to vote on, choosing the candidates they wish to represent the party in the November general state election.
Last week, the Office of Missions and Public Life partnered with the Waco Animal Birth Control Clinic to recruit volunteers to build emergency winter shelters for the campus cats before Winter Storm Landon hit.

“Since July 1st, Baylor’s campus has had nine positives out of 48 tests,” Stern said. “And in the last month alone, we have had seven positives out of 29 tests, which is almost a 25% positivity rate.”

Tensions continued to grow over the summer between political adversaries as Texas state Sen. James Talarico called on Attorney General Ken Paxton to release internal records related to a controversial child sexual abuse case involving former Waco attorney and Baylor Law graduate Adam Hoffman.
