In 1844, the Texas Baptist Education Society petitioned the Texas Congress to charter a Baptist university. 180 years later, Baptists are slowly becoming a minority at Baylor.
While the plan promises increased security, it raises concerns about military spending and the potential for escalating global arms races. Thompson also pointed out that the race to develop better defense systems is “never-ending.”
Though a rare occurrence in this historic school tradition, some of those who have paired up in the past said they wouldn’t want it any other way.
“The Career Center was the main reason that I even figured out what I even wanted to do,” she said.

Texas voters turned out in historic numbers Tuesday, delivering victories for State Rep. James Talarico and forcing a runoff between Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.
