The Iran war is now in its 46th day. Iran responded by restricting access to Hormuz, which carries about a fifth of the world’s seaborne oil, and moving to toll vessels transiting the strait. Waco drivers are already feeling it. The local average hit $3.38 a gallon last week, up 21 cents in seven days and 75 cents year-over-year, according to AAA data.

When I first discovered the inadequacy of my own Christian education, I was honestly a little angry that no pastor or teacher had ever preached the Bible from this perspective. How much meaning had I missed in my years of studying Scripture blindly? But that disappointment quickly turned to gratitude for the friend who opened my eyes, and I hope to do the same for others.

Wherever you stand politically, it’s clear that President Donald Trump’s tactics are far different from those of any other president regarding the Iran conflict. He doesn’t stop at ultimatums or negotiations; rather, he humiliates, profanes, libels and threatens. And Iran isn’t the only victim.

Mexican and Waco culture collaborated to bring local coffee shop Lalo’s Coffee & Pastries to life. Commonly known as “Lalo’s,” the shop has brought Wacoans a little piece of Mexico — and others a little piece of home.

Pivovar is the name of Waco’s Czech-inspired location, serving as a hotel, brewery, bakery, beer garden and beer spa. The head chef and general manager, Jeremy Eaton, said that it’s considered upscale without the aspect of snobbiness.

“We’re going to have to rebuild our reproductive rights and protections from the ground up with legislation, and the only way we can do that is get a pro-choice legislature everywhere,” Cheryl Foster, Waco community member and former Planned Parenthood volunteer, said. “So, Nov. 8 is our first opportunity to stop this nonsense.”

Texas voters turned out in historic numbers Tuesday, delivering victories for State Rep. James Talarico and forcing a runoff between Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.
