While the Waco Independent Film Festival hosts multiple events each year for film enthusiasts, they wanted to work with KWBU to create a space where the community of Waco could gather for the simple pleasure of enjoying a film. After the movie, everyone, no matter the background, could join in the conversation.

The question many Californians now have is how the state will rebuild and adapt for the next wildfire season. As of late, the wildfires have not been obeying the typical laws of nature. The wildfire season, which typically runs from May to October, has become more of a suggestion than a hard-set date.

Much like the rest of Cain’s discography, “Perverts” isn’t exactly a casual listen. It’s not meant to be consumed while doing the dishes, walking on the treadmill or going grocery shopping. It’s one of those albums you listen to in a dark room, in silence, maybe curled up in bed. It demands undivided attention, solemnity respect.

“There’s an awareness that the words you share could be used by God to shape the future of thousands of lives,” Pokluda said. “My desired goal is always to point people to Jesus and to remind them that their lives matter in His story. Speaking at Passion is an opportunity to pour into the next generation of leaders, and that responsibility is one I don’t take lightly.”

Once again Baylor students are stepping up to help the community.

On Saturday, Baylor students will head to various locations in Waco to volunteer for Steppin’ Out, a biannual day of service in its 27th year in which Baylor students serve the surrounding community.

More than 2,750 students from 102 student organizations will help at more than 55 sites across the Waco area.

For many families, a Christmas tree represents joy, holiday spirit and precious memories. For others, a tree represents unsafe curiosity, potential danger and added stress.

Killeen native Jessica Mann’s 5 year-old son, Jayian, was diagnosed with autism in Febuary 2010. For her, having a large Christmas tree in the home poses multiple problems.
