We would argue that the egregious spending is not the result of increased love this year — it’s a crutch. Now, over 60 years since the community was devastated by a tornado in 1953 that claimed hundreds of businesses, a specialized team of Baylor business students led by Dr. Marlene Reed, a senior lecturer, have set themselves to the task of revitalizing the community.

Baylor social work doctoral candidate Melissa Ishio loves her classes. Like other students, she attends lectures, has group discussions and meets one-on-one with her professors. But unlike other students, Ishio has been taking them in Japan for the past year.

“Since July 1st, Baylor’s campus has had nine positives out of 48 tests,” Stern said. “And in the last month alone, we have had seven positives out of 29 tests, which is almost a 25% positivity rate.”
