McLennan County is facing an upsurge of COVID-19 cases this year, alongside the viruses and respiratory infections that often come with the beginning of a semester, Baylor medical director Dr. Sharon Stern said.
Lori Fogleman, assistant vice president of media and public relations, said there are multiple parking solutions available to students, faculty and staff after the closures begin. Students with parking passes for the Dutton garage and Lot 38 can park at the Ferrell Center, where additional express shuttles will take students to multiple locations around campus every 10 minutes. Additionally, students can park in any available faculty and staff spaces on campus after 2 p.m. Thursday.
On their first day of class freshman year, Wiff Rudd, professor of trumpet and brass area coordinator, and his now-wife, Jeanette Rudd, had their picture taken on a Baylor swing by The Baylor Lariat. The next day, a Lariat print edition hit the stands, and much to their surprise, the cover featured their photo. They said it was a definitive moment for them, and on Wednesday — almost five decades to the day the original was taken — they recreated that same photo.

Anti-abortion advocates all over the world, including students and groups on Baylor campus, are using the 40 days of Lent to participate in the 40 Days for Life campaign.
While jobs in many career fields are getting scarce, the need for teachers has only increased. That’s why alternative teaching certification programs are an option for students who are interested in teaching and have at least a bachelor’s degree.
Stage lights will shine on artists such as Chris Tomlin, Kristin Stanfill and the David Crowder Band as thousands of college students gather with eyes closed and hands raised to worship together starting April 1. They will hear Louie Giglio, John Piper and Francis Chan speak and will gather in small groups. What they will experience is no average church service or concert, however, as the weekend is defined by one word: Passion.
The Greater Waco Chamber and the Small Business Development Center Network hosted a roundtable discussion Wednesday about how Waco-based businesses can become more active in international business expansion and local job creation.

“Parents have a significant impact on the value system and the ideological system that children develop over time. We’re all impacted by the messages that we hear growing up in our parents’ home,” McAninch said.
Ramsey is a sophomore from Waco studying economics and international studies in Arabic. Ramsey went to Amman, Jordan, with Qasid, an Arabic Institute Program running from June through August. But she didn’t suspect the challenges and conflicts that would occur in the coming days.
Although the war seems like it could be worlds away, it impacts Baylor students in a more personal way than most generally assume — particularly in the grocery store runs, Stolze said.
“Any kind of medical volunteering is very highly considered by medical schools, especially if you’re investing so much time,” Selkin said. “A week may not seem like a long time, but you are investing a week of your summer to go to a foreign country, probably somewhere that you’ve never been before, maybe a language that you don’t speak. That is a great chance to talk about cultural immersion and diversity. It’s a great opportunity to expand not only what you know but to see what else is out there.”
