Author and public speaker Darryl Thomas watched his father be killed when he was young. As part of Baylor’s Mental Health Awareness Week, Thomas visited the Baylor Sciences Building on Wednesday to give a public lecture on domestic violence and how to help others in similar situations.
During a State of the City address, Waco Mayor Dillon Meek confirmed he does not plan to seek reelection after his term expiration in May 2024. Meek, who is also a Baylor alum, said he is most proud of “being part of the team that kept Waco’s civic landscape and culture consensus-driven, civil and kind.”

“Parents have a significant impact on the value system and the ideological system that children develop over time. We’re all impacted by the messages that we hear growing up in our parents’ home,” McAninch said.
Ramsey is a sophomore from Waco studying economics and international studies in Arabic. Ramsey went to Amman, Jordan, with Qasid, an Arabic Institute Program running from June through August. But she didn’t suspect the challenges and conflicts that would occur in the coming days.
