“The suspension bridge and the Indian Spring Park area, has long been one of our traditional areas for community events,” Cook said. “People are excited to finally have the bridge back open and have this again as one of our gathering spots to come together.”
Having started teaching at Baylor in the fall of 1986, Parsons is the longest-serving professor in the religion department. Feeling a call to ministry as early as his sophomore year of high school, he majored in both religion and philosophy at Campbell University, which went on to cultivate his passion for Christian scholarship.
On Monday, SEWP hosted a plant market at Fountain Mall where every plant sold out. On Tuesday, they organized a clothing swap in the same place which included clothes from all brands such as Urban Outfitters and Lululemon. Items were being sold at $3 or students could opt to trade with others. The leftover clothes were then donated to local places in Waco. On Wednesday, they hosted a profit share with Cha Community.
“I will do my very best to represent Baylor well,” Johnson said. “I see it as my responsibility to take — just like as a diplomat, I took the American flag where I went — I look forward to taking the Baylor name and its reputation to places that it has not been before.”
