From requesting to change a final exam time to going to the Success Center, there are a variety of options for students to prepare for finals week.
Dr. Dave Bridge, associate professor of political science, said the class focuses on the institutions, rules and history of elections. When Bridge taught the class during the 2020 presidential election, around 250 students were enrolled.
Baylor’s traditional chapel offering — large-scale student gatherings in Waco Hall — has been scattered into a variety of “calling and career” options in recent years, as the chapel department pushes to personalize the chapel experience. The result: more than four dozen options, including everything from Aviation Chapel to Eastern Orthodox Morning Prayers.

Mission Waco’s annual Thanksgiving Day Lunch With The Homeless will be held Thursday at the Meyer Center for Urban Ministries, beginning with a worship service at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.
According to the Heart of Texas Homeless Coalition website, as of 2009 there are 312 homeless in Waco which is down from the 2007 survey, when there were 431. However, according to a National Alliance to End Homelessness survey done in 2009, there are 37,671 homeless in Texas.
To celebrate one full year of its market on the Brazos, the Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market is hosting an anniversary party from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Waco Mayor Malcolm Duncan will commence the event with an opening statement.
Picketers from Westboro Baptist Church plan to protest at the Baylor vs. Kansas State football game from 5:30-6:30 p.m Saturday.
According to the organization’s website, the picketers plan to be at the game because “God hates K-State and God hates Baylor and we’ll be there to remind you of it.”
The organization, which was not available for immediate response, states on its website that Baylor is not teaching its students the Word of God and that Baylor has not published anything regarding divorce and remarriage, gay marriage, abortion and other topics of controversy.
The Waco City Council and the Waco Humane Society hope details surrounding a proposed deal between the two will be decided by Dec. 1.
The proposal, which was passed at a Waco City Council meeting Tuesday, would allow the city to take over operations of the shelter next month and allow the Humane Society to staff the front office and continue offering animal adoptions.

Texas voters turned out in historic numbers Tuesday, delivering victories for State Rep. James Talarico and forcing a runoff between Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.

The Iran war is now in its 46th day. Iran responded by restricting access to Hormuz, which carries about a fifth of the world’s seaborne oil, and moving to toll vessels transiting the strait. Waco drivers are already feeling it. The local average hit $3.38 a gallon last week, up 21 cents in seven days and 75 cents year-over-year, according to AAA data.
Gas prices in Texas have surged more than 70 cents per gallon since the U.S. went to war with Iran three weeks ago. The near-total shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz has driven oil prices up more than 40%, pushing the national average to its highest point since 2023 and sending diesel past $5 for the first time in three years.
The largest U.S. military operation in the Middle East in decades unfolded as American and Israeli forces struck Iran Saturday, killing its supreme leader and triggering retaliatory strikes from the Gulf to Israel. The White House said the campaign is aimed at dismantling Iran’s military and toppling its government.
