Dr. Alexander McNair, an associate professor of Spanish in the modern languages and cultures department, and Dr. Kelly Johnston, associate professor in curriculum and instruction in the Moody School of Education, were the two recipients of the 2026 Centennial Professors Award this year.
Residential chaplains are seminary students at George W. Truett Theological Seminary who choose to live alongside undergraduate students, dedicating 20 hours a week to providing spiritual support for the challenges of daily life.

The Baylor campus woke up Thursday to a nationwide cellular outage primarily affecting the phone carrier AT&T, as well as T-Mobile, Cricket Wireless and Verizon. As of 3 p.m., service has been restored.
“I feel like that’s when I had a moment of commitment,” said Yeager, a San Mateo, Calif., sophomore who was recently named Highland Baptist Church’s youngest-ever College Guys Associate. “For the first time, I understood what that meant of like, ‘Oh yeah, I want to be committed to the Lord every day, and I want to live a life for him — worthy of the Lord in every way and bearing fruit in every good work.’”
In southeast Waco — a neighborhood with one of the city’s highest poverty rates — the Talitha Koum Institute has combined science and faith for over 20 years, providing childhood development from birth and breaking generations-long cycles of poverty.
