Andie Day, a 2011 Baylor graduate, has succeeded where many college students have failed: finding a job straight out of college.
Just one year after graduating, Day works as a freelance costumer and has served on the sets of two cable television shows, as well as numerous independent films. Day said she advises students to use their time in college to gain on-site work experience.
“Intern as much as you can while you’re in school,” Day said. “I think you are best to get all that working-for-free stuff out of the way while you’re in school. You’re getting ahead of all of the kids who don’t think they have to work.”
Though turmoil erupted at several college campuses today following a string of bomb threats, Baylor University officials say Baylor’s campus is secure.
Lori Fogleman, director of media communications, said Friday that emergency protocols are being followed.
Dr. Bill Powers, president of the University of Texas at Austin, justified the university’s decision to hold the evacuation ten minutes before the bomb was set to explode in a noon press conference on Friday. The university scheduled the press conference at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center to discuss the bomb threat as well the university’s response.
Powers opened the press conference with a declaration the university was safe.

The Iran war is now in its 46th day. Iran responded by restricting access to Hormuz, which carries about a fifth of the world’s seaborne oil, and moving to toll vessels transiting the strait. Waco drivers are already feeling it. The local average hit $3.38 a gallon last week, up 21 cents in seven days and 75 cents year-over-year, according to AAA data.
Gas prices in Texas have surged more than 70 cents per gallon since the U.S. went to war with Iran three weeks ago. The near-total shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz has driven oil prices up more than 40%, pushing the national average to its highest point since 2023 and sending diesel past $5 for the first time in three years.
The largest U.S. military operation in the Middle East in decades unfolded as American and Israeli forces struck Iran Saturday, killing its supreme leader and triggering retaliatory strikes from the Gulf to Israel. The White House said the campaign is aimed at dismantling Iran’s military and toppling its government.
