March Madness 2025

The 2012-13 season for the Baylor men’s basketball team was a rather rocky one. Baylor was able to win some highly impressive games this season but its inconsistency led it to lose some easier games on the schedule.

The Bears handed Kentucky its first home loss in 55 games, which was John Calipari’s first home loss as head coach of the Wildcats.

The Baylor Bears started the season ranked No. 19 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll.

The Bears went into the Big 12 Tournament as the No. 6 seed setting up a rematch with Oklahoma State. The Bears lost a heartbreaker to the Cowboys 74-72 in Kansas City at the Sprint Center. The Bears were down 42-24 at half and battled back in the second half to give Oklahoma State a run for their money. Senior point guard Pierre Jackson had a chance to win the game with a three at the buzzer but the shot deflected off the rim.

The Baylor Bears lost to the No. 14 Oklahoma State Cowboys on Thursday night 74-72 in the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City’s Sprint Center.

With 25 seconds to play in the second half, the Bears were trailing 72-68. Junior guard Gary Franklin buried a 3-pointer and was fouled on the shot attempt. Franklin calmly sank the free throw to tie the game 72-72 with just 19 seconds remaining.

The No. 1 Baylor Lady Bears will look to continue taking care of business as they face Kansas at 7 p.m. tonight at the Ferrell Center.

The Lady Bears (20-1, 10-0 Big 12) put their 32-game regular season win streak on the line as they take on the Jayhawks (14-6, 5-4 Big 12). Baylor will try to extend its home winning streak to 51 games, whereas Kansas is coming off two overtime victories over Iowa State and Kansas State.

Baylor recorded its 13th straight 20-win season as senior center Brittney Griner had another double-double, with 30 points, 10 rebounds, a career high seven assists and three blocks to help the No. 1 Lady Bears defeat No. 19 Oklahoma State 81-62.

The Baylor Bears will travel to Ames, Iowa on Saturday to take on an Iowa State team that is undefeated at home in Big 12 Conference play.

The Bears were off to an exceptional start in big 12 play but faltered against Oklahoma to lose their first Big 12 home game. Baylor looks to regain momentum by giving Iowa State its first loss at James H. Hilton Coliseum.

It only took a couple of seconds for senior center Brittney Griner to break the Big 12 scoring record.

She scored the first four points of the game as the No. 1 Baylor Lady Bears defeated Texas Tech 90-60 on Wednesday. She now has a Big 12 record 2,835 career points.

The No. 1 Lady Bears will take on Texas Tech at 7 p.m. today in Lubbock, and will try to build on the nation’s largest winning streak.

Baylor (8-0 Big 12, 18-1 overall) and Texas Tech (6-2 Big 12, 16-4 overall) are the top two teams in the conference.

Both teams have similar numbers in scoring defense. Baylor allows an average of 53.2 points per game whereas Texas Tech allows 53.4.

However, Texas Tech has to stop the Big 12’s best scoring offense.
