“I was going to be in retail. I wanted to be a buyer and go to New York,” Brunson said. “And a few months before I was going to go, I prayed about it, and I woke up the next morning, and it was just very clear. God said, ‘I want you to teach at the college level.'”

In his book titled “Why We Kiss Under the Mistletoe: Christmas Traditions Explained,” professor of patristics Dr. Michael Foley delves into the background and history of Christmas traditions, uncovering surprises along the way.

According to its website, Baylor’s McNair Scholars Program aims to prepare low-income, first-generation and other underrepresented students to successfully navigate a path to a doctoral program following graduation. It prepares undergraduate students for the rigors of doctoral studies through immersion in research and a variety of scholarly activities.

“Every semester … whatever area it is, they grow in confidence, and they realize, ‘Oh, I can do this. God has gifted me, and this is what I love doing,’” Horton said. “That initial call — it’s like, you’ve got these little little flames, but it just grows when they’re doing the internship.”
“No matter what stage of life you’re in, it’s really important to look to your right and left, instead of being tunnel-focused on your bigger goals,” Hallbauer said. “That’s what we want for people to take away from this group, is that they have an ability and an obligation as believers to serve and love the least of these.”
I think looking back on your calendar or planner to see the things you spend the most time on reveals a lot about where your priorities are. They might surprise you.
“What we’ve been able to do is cut back on some of the electives and some of the requirements that at some points seem to overlap,” Reed said. “We would cut that out and let the opposite degree fill in. Say in music, most electives that would be in the MDiv are going to be music courses.”
Just a month after the Asbury University revival sparked similar worship movements at Baylor and other Christian colleges, FM72 has made its annual return to campus.

The men’s retreat will be March 17-19 and costs $55, covering meals, housing and ammo for the gun range. The women’s retreat will take place March 24-26 and costs $50, including meals, housing and fun on the ranch.
“Another reason I’m excited to come to Truett is because I feel like I’ll be able to make that kind of text-to-ministry, text-to-life connection every day,” Shively said. “It’s just not something that I’ve been able to do at St. Andrews because it just isn’t the focus of the university. … This opportunity to come to Truett is, I think, fulfilling my deepest desires.”
“It’s not people just going on a trip for a week and just being like, ‘OK, we’re going to go and serve, and then I’m going to go back to how I live my life at Baylor,’” Hatchel said. “My prayer for myself and for our team is … we would just grow in training the gospel … and the Holy Spirit would move at Baylor even before Beach Reach.”
“It’s been wonderful seeing the Lord work through students lives in that sense … revealing the opportunity that prayer presents and how you can find peace from it,” Barberena said. “You can see it working through the students as well — the way that they treat each other, the kindness and love that everybody shows for each other. You can see it in the way that we are a Chapel team.”
“The beauty of the Gospel is that when you speak it across cultures … it resonates,” Aughtry said. “And I think that’s what I’m trying to do in all the faith and arts chapels, is find something that resonates with the art-making process, with storytelling process.”
When people talk about others, it influences your perception and bias about the subject of gossip. Gossip destroys reputations and gives subjects of gossip a disadvantage before people know them.
“I think a struggle we have at Baylor is that we’ve settled for the lowest bar of being a believer in Jesus,” Bowden said. “Some people may take the step of being a disciple of Jesus and getting to know Him in full relationship and going to places where He would have gone. But very few of us step to being a disciple-maker, of where I invest in people.”
She was born with Symbrachydactyly, a condition where she is missing two fingers on her right hand. When deciding which instrument to learn, some instruments that she wanted to play — like the flute or cello — weren’t possible with her age and condition. So, she turned to the viola.
