Former track and field athlete Trayvon Bromell continues to impress in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as he finds himself one round away from competing in the finals of the track and field 100-meter dash.

The 21-year-old from St. Petersburg, FL finds himself running against the world record holder Usain Bolt today in the semifinals at 7:07 p.m.

After cruising in the preliminaries Saturday morning, Bromell continued with the momentum in the first round ranked eighth after posting a time of 10.13 seconds.

Bromell, a NCAA champion decided to turn professional last fall and immediately started to turn heads in the field. Bromell finished second in the U.S. Trials, while tying his personal best time of 9.86.

“It’s like I’ve told people over the years, track and field is my life,” Bromell said. “I’d die for what I love. And if anything happened, at least I was doing what I love.”

If Bromell qualifies, the finals for the 100-meter dash will follow shortly after at 8:25 p.m.
