Baylor volleyball improved to (9-4, 3-1) after sweeping the University of North Texas (9-8, 2-2). Despite not starting star senior outside hitter Yossiana Pressley, the Bears didn’t miss a beat in their sixth sweep in the last eight matches.

In the first set, the Bears were down early but quickly woke up and took control of the game. A mid-set five-point run put Baylor up 11-7. With four aces in the set, the Bears kept their foot on the gas as they won the set 25-19.

The second set started off back-and-forth with little separation in the score. However, senior outside hitter Avery Skinner helped Baylor take over the set. With a 7-0 run shortly followed by a 7-1 run, accompanied by 10 kills in the set from Skinner, the Bears would dominate the second set 25-10.

Once again the Bears started off slow in the third set with the score being 6-6. Not long after, Baylor picked things back up to jump to a solid lead of 20-14. The teams traded points and Baylor’s comfortable lead would carry them to a 25-20 win to end the match.

With 18 kills in the match. Skinner is now nine kills away from hitting the 1,000-kill career milestone. Senior setter Hannah Sedwick finished with 34 assists as well as a perfect hitting percentage on seven kills.

The Bears enjoy a bye week this weekend before returning to action at home to play the University of Kansas on both Oct. 14 and Oct. 15 in the Ferrell Center.
