After a slow start, the No. 9 Baylor Lady Bears defeated the San Jose State Spartans 113-73 on Tuesday at the Ferrell Center.

Senior guard Odyssey Sims became the all-time assist leader with 505 career assists with 13 for the night. The All-American point guard also added 29 points. Sims had a double-double before halftime for the first time in her career. Freshman forward Nina Davis added 15 points while freshman post Khadijiah Cave contributed with 10 points. Senior guard Makenzie Robertson also gave the Lady Bears much needed production with 13 points.

After a rough stretch in the beginning, Robertson scored on back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 26-4 Baylor run. Baylor’s effective perimeter shooting opened up the offense as San Jose State’s defense was forced to stretch out to guard the perimeter. This allowed Baylor to go inside the paint for the easy score. Baylor kept the intensity up early in the second half, going five minutes without giving up an opposing field goal. Down the stretch, San Jose State continued to pick up its 3-point shooting, but was unable to overcome the big deficit.

No. 9 Baylor will play the Kentucky Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
