Junior outside hitter Laura Jones is out for the rest of the 2014 Baylor volleyball season after suffering a torn ACL during the team’s four-set loss to Kansas on Friday night in the Ferrell Center.

Saturday morning, No. 4 Baylor football leaves the friendly confines of home again to face the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Bears snatched a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback win against TCU last Saturday to keep their undefeated record alive. West Virginia also kept its Big 12 hopes alive with a game-winning field goal against Texas Tech in Lubbock last Saturday.

Freshman kicker Chris Callahan was 1-for-6 on field goals coming into Saturday’s shootout against fifth-ranked Baylor and ninth-ranked TCU. His only made field goal in 2014 was 45 days ago in the first game of the season against unranked SMU.

Baylor may have been ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll, but few seemed to take the Bears seriously as a College Football Playoff contender. To be fair, Baylor had yet to play a team even in the top teams of the conference, much less a true national contender.

As many know by now, fans rushed the field at McLane Stadium after freshman kicker Chris Callahan nailed a game-winner as time expired to beat TCU on Saturday. This sparked a bit of controversy, asking whether fans should have rushed the field despite being the favorite heading into the game.
