It was the second full week of Big 12 sports, as Baylor played host to the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge and traveled on the road with other teams. But since it’s the heat of football season, here’s everything else you may have missed in Baylor Athletics over the weekend.
The Bears fell one hit short of a reverse sweep.
Baylor lost to the Utes in Salt Lake City, 23-12, but began to shake off the frost built up over the past two seasons.
After allowing 17 points and 151 total yards in the first quarter, the Bears (1-1) held the Utes (2-0) without another offensive touchdown and just 141 total yards for the rest of the game. Rising, a seventh-year college quarterback, was taken out of the game with 1:47 left in the second quarter after colliding with Gatorade coolers on the sidelines. Without Rising in the game, Utah only recorded 99 yards of offense.
The green and gold toppled the Golden Gophers in a thrilling fifth-set upset Friday night at the Ferrell Center.

Men's Basketball
Baylor basketball was represented well by its freshmen this season, as the Big 12 Conference named freshman guard Keyonte George and freshman forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs the Big 12 Freshman of the Year for their respective sides.
Selflessness and leadership are two words that can be used to describe No. 11 third-seeded Baylor men’s basketball redshirt senior guard Adam Flagler. In what is potentially Flagler’s final year as a Bear, he’s helped the Bears in a multitude of ways throughout his four years with the program.
As Baylor basketball awaits the opening of the Foster Pavilion in January 2024, here is a look at some of the most iconic moments in Ferrell Center history.
Women's Basketball
Graduate guard Jordan Lewis recorded the seventh triple-double in program history as No. 11 Baylor women’s basketball rolled through West Virginia University 87-54 Saturday afternoon
Head coach Nicki Collen believes fans will return as the bears gain momentum.
Despite a dominant offensive performance in the first half, a lack of defensive effort allowed Tech to storm back into the game late. However, clutch shots from sophomore guard Sarah Andrews propelled the Bears to victory.
Equestrian
After hunter seat wins over SMU and Sacred Heart last Saturday, equestrian faces Fresno State, TCU and South Carolina in a multi-team competition in Fresno, Calif. on Saturday and Sunday.
At 5-5, the team travels to Texas A&M for an 11 a.m. matchup Saturday. Baylor looks to score an upset over the 8-0 Aggie squad.
Tennis
Baylor tennis and women’s golf have been selected as postseason host sites for May 2025 and May 2026.

In the 2023 season, Major League Baseball officials added the pitch clock to aid the speed of the game. After the season and now into 2024, I’ve seen that the pitch clock has been very useful and has accelerated the pace of the game.
