Baylor lost its seventh conference game Wednesday night, cementing the worst stretch in conference for head coach Scott Drew’s program since the 2004-05 season.

With head men’s golf coach Mike McGraw announcing his retirement from collegiate golf, both McGraw and his players are reflecting on the impact of the legendary coach’s career.

Senior left-handed pitcher Ethan Calder was a mainstay in the Baylor bullpen for two years. He made the leap into the coveted Friday night starting role as a junior. He plans to utilize both experiences as he prepares for his final season in Waco.

Behind efficient senior scoring and a late 8–0 run, No. 14 Baylor women’s basketball held off Houston to remain tied atop the Big 12 standings. The Bears shot 52% from the field and leaned on a balanced offensive effort to secure an 82–66 win at home.

Baylor is 1-6 to start conference play, the program’s worst mark since 2014. The half-dozen losses have come by an average margin of 13.7 points per game.

Chip and Joanna Gaines gifted the largest donation in Baylor baseball history on Jan. 12. The ability to upgrade the Bears’ facilities and support the team’s mix of tested veterans and talented freshmen has set the program on the right path to return to its former glory.

Tied for first place in the Big 12 standings, No. 14 Baylor sits alongside No. 12 TCU as the conference race tightens. Elite defense, balanced production and road success have kept the Bears firmly in the title hunt as the push continues for a lone No. 1 spot.

It has been a tumultuous offseason for Baylor, from lost players to exhausted eligibility to transfers and flipped commitments. The Bears now look ahead to improve on an underwhelming 5-7 season.
