Baylor is shining a spotlight on its graduate students this week with a series of events celebrating Graduate Student Appreciation Week, offering everything from free food to professional development workshops in recognition of their academic contributions and campus involvement.
Attractions, free food and spring weather filled Fountain Mall during the university’s annual Diadeloso event on Tuesday. The student and partner-staffed event sported state fair games, goat yoga and a concert at Waco Hall featuring Joshua Bassett.
As tornado activity rises across Texas this spring, Baylor students and staff are being urged to take storm safety seriously, especially with Waco lying in a region increasingly vulnerable to severe weather.

Gas prices in Texas have surged more than 70 cents per gallon since the U.S. went to war with Iran three weeks ago. The near-total shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz has driven oil prices up more than 40%, pushing the national average to its highest point since 2023 and sending diesel past $5 for the first time in three years.
