True to his quiet, reserved nature, freshman forward Perry Jones III first looked to his father on his right, then his mother on his left, before announcing his decision regarding his future.

Selection Sunday brought record levels of eye-rolling and scoffing. Columnists complained and analysts agonized about a weaker-than-ever NCAA tournament field that included seven teams with at least 13 losses. The expanded tournament just meant more unworthy teams, the line of thinking went.

Even after an unforeseen loss to unranked Texas Tech last Saturday, the Lady Bears still have their hands outstretched for the Big 12 title. The men, however, still need to find that extra something to secure a bid for the big dance.

The Lady Bears tasted defeat for the first time since Nov. 16 at Connecticut, and the Huskies reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the nation as Baylor fell to No. 3 after losing a road contest to unranked Texas Tech 56-45 Saturday.
