March Madness 2025

Baylor fell to the eventual National Champion, Kentucky, last year in the Elite Eight 82-70. A big reason for Kentucky’s success was its 6-foot-10-inch freshman Anthony Davis.
Davis torched the Bears that game for 18 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks. Baylor had no answer for the Associated Press Player of the Year and eventual first overall pick in the NBA Draft.
So what did Baylor head coach Scott Drew do about it? He went to Arlington and got an Anthony Davis of his own, minus the unibrow. This one goes by the name of Isaiah Austin.
Elite Eight rings are set aside, Adidas shoes are laced up and neon is put on as the No. 18 Baylor men’s basketball team takes the floor at the Ferrell tonight against Abilene Christian in its only exhibition game before the start of the 2012-2013 season.
Moonlight Madness was a success last Friday night. The campus will soon be buzzing with basketball on the horizon, and the teams will look to hang banners in April.
Fans flooded the Ferrell Center for a taste of what they will get when the season starts next month.
“There was a lot of energy, man,” freshman forward Rico Gathers said. “I didn’t expect it to be this live…I can’t wait until the season starts.”
Losing in the Elite Eight in two of the past three seasons has left this Baylor men’s basketball team hungry.
The players believe that the program is at a level now where making the NCAA tournament is a given, and tournament runs are expected.
In 2010, the Bears lost to eventual national champion Duke.
Quincy Acy will have a lot to prove north of the border.
Standing 6-feet 7-inches, he is already an undersized power forward and has some good ball players to beat out for a roster spot.
In the Las Vegas Summer League, Acy played just two games and averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds.
Kids are taught that sharing is caring, but when it comes to the Big 12 regular season title that is just not the case.
The No. 1 Baylor Lady Bears earned a share of the Big 12 conference title with a 56-51 win over a physical Texas Tech team Saturday at the Ferrell Center.
